Description

Grape variety(ies): White Grenache and Vermentino.

Soil: Clay-limestone soil.

Temperature / Cellaring: Best enjoyed young whilst the fruit is still fresh; this wine can be cellared for up to 3 years. Serve at 7–8°C.

Our tasting notes: A wine with a bright pale yellow colour and green highlights. The nose is fresh and highly aromatic, with crystalline notes of citrus, garrigue and noble oak. The palate is rich and generous, developing into a smooth, aniseed-like finish. A hint of minerality prolongs the aromas on the finish.

Food and wine pairing suggestions: Bouillabaisse, crayfish in broth, roast rabbit with mustard. As an aperitif or in a kir, it is also perfect with all fish and white meats.

Listed on France’s inventory of intangible cultural heritage since 2012, the Languedoc-style water joust is a sport practised in the towns of Béziers, Agde, Marseillan, Mèze, Balaruc, Sète, Palavas and Le Grau-du-Roi. The sport involves a contest between two jouteurs aboard rowing boats propelled by oarsmen, one red and one blue. Each is equipped with a lance and a shield and faces the other from the tintaine, a small platform overlooking the boats. In Languedoc Occitan, ‘targa’ refers both to the sport itself and to the shield.
