“A supple wine with a lingering finish of red fruit, supported by well-integrated tannins…”
Description
Grape varieties: Syrah, Grenache, Carignan and Cinsault.
Soil: Clay-limestone soil.
Temperature / Cellaring: Cellar for up to 5 years and serve between 16 and 18°C.
Our tasting notes: The colour is bright, a deep ruby with purple highlights. On the nose, there are notes of thyme, overripe black fruits, pepper and the typical ‘zan’ character of the grape varieties that make up this wine. On the palate, the attack is supple. The mellow tannins blend with notes of red fruits and the finish is full-bodied.
Food and wine pairing tips: Perfect with pigeon and peas, this wine is a wonderful accompaniment to cold meats, mixed salads, grilled meats and cheeses.
A bit of history:
Listed on France’s inventory of intangible cultural heritage since 2012, the game of tambourine ball is a sport that has been played in France since the late 14th century. It survives today mainly in the villages of the Hérault region but also in other countries such as Italy. It is a team sport involving two teams of five players, each equipped with tambourines, who must return the ball to the opposing team’s half, much like in tennis. In Languedoc Occitan, ‘tambornet’ refers to both the sport itself and the tambourine.
