Description

Grape varieties: Syrah, Grenache and Carignan (oak-aged).

Terroir: Ruffes terroir.

Temperature / Cellaring: Best enjoyed for its fruitiness within the first three years; this wine will reach its full potential after a few years in the cellar. Between 5 and 10 years.

Serving temperature: 16–18°C.

Our tasting notes: Intense garnet colour. On the nose, notes of liquorice, toast, vanilla, morello cherries and chocolate contribute to a complex, refined and varied aromatic palette. The palate is characterised by a perfect harmony between present yet silky tannins and flavours of candied fruit, pepper and roasted notes.

Food and wine pairing suggestions: Spit-roasted hare, bull stew, wild boar stew.

It was in the 20th century that Larzac forged its reputation as a land of struggle. Indeed, from the ‘Oath of the 103’ on 28 March 1972 to the events involving José Bové in 1999, this region naturally established itself as a legendary site of resistance against militarisation, colonialism and, more broadly, the established order – a struggle that would lead, a few years later, to what is now known as ‘anti-globalisation’, which manifested itself in places such as Davos and Seattle and continues to this day.
